Policy Development Workshop in New Delhi
A Policy Development Workshop was held in New Delhi from 30-31 May 2018 under the ACIAR-SDIP2 program funded project on Value chain and policy interventions to accelerate adoption of zero tillage in the rice-wheat farming systems across the Indo-Gangetic Plains.
More than twenty senior level participants from the government, International research organizations and think tanks deliberated on potential policy interventions that governments and the agri-industries can adopt in order to assist in the accelerated adoption of the Happy Seeder and ZT seed drills by farmers, in an effort directed to addressing the serious issues of rice stubble straw burning.
The sessions were conducted to specifically address the required interventions and how government policy can be shaped to support these interventions. The outcomes will be compiled as part of a Workshop Policy Note that will form the basis of the ZT Summit workshops that will be conducted at the end of June in other parts of the South Asia region (Rangpur, Bangladesh June 25th, Siliguri, West Bengal June 27th and Delhi June 29th).
